About Maja:

I am a Licensed and Certified Interior Designer, nationally-recognized as a skilled stager, and trained in the Chinese wisdom of Feng Shui.

I have over a decade of experience in high-end residential interior design. I specialize in new construction, remodels, renovations, staging, room makeovers, and space planning. I am proficient in a diverse range of styles & believe every great design begins with a story.

I have a passion for design and the desire to create a timeless space for each client.

What was your inspiration to pursue your furniture/design career?

As a child, I was fortunate to grow up with a dad who was an architect.

I admired his designs, scaled drawings and gained a respect for historic architecture and mathematics. I loved drawing and building things with him. I would re-arrange my parent’s home, move the artwork on the walls and even put wallpaper inside my dollhouses. It was all so exciting to me.

What’s your favorite design tip?

A client’s story is an inspiration for my design.

Great interior requires materials that are in line with the space’s architecture-objects and items that reflect an owner’s character, but also pieces that are timeless and scaled proportionally.

One of my favorite design tips to make a room feel larger: use a round rug. The circle represents infinity and it brings the idea of no boundaries as a visual element.

Also Don’t be afraid to layer patterns or texture. Just think fashion when decorating.

How would you describe your personal design style?

My style is Contemporary with a touch of Classic. I love to discover fun new trends but I also know when to stick to smooth lines, subtle patterns and subdued colors. My classic side thrives in any space that tastefully combines timeless elements of warmth, welcome and refinement.

What do you love most about helping people design and furnish their home?

What I love most about helping people design and furnish their home is that it is their space and interior design is a very personal process which results in a timeless look and feel and gives the home individuality.

I love to help people design and furnish their home so their space reflects their personality and tells their story.

I like to bring out of my clients how a room makes them feel and that is what good interior design does.

I like to create highly individualized interiors that match their needs and desires.

What’s your favorite project that you’ve worked on here at Norwood?

When I design a space big or small, no matter what the project, and the client “Loves it”- That’s the Best feeling – which equals the Best reward – that’s why I do what I do!
