About Hazelyn:

I am so fortunate to have accomplished so much in my life, showing Quarter Horses professionally, playing golf on the LPGA “amateur” circuit with Patty Sheehan, Nancy Lopez to name a few. But my biggest accomplishment was starting “Hazelyn’s Designs” and “Four Seasons Gifts and Ideas”.

I moved to Green Valley, AZ (South of Tucson) and continued my love for design. My clientele were building homes in Quail Creek, a Robson community. I provided my clients with furniture, window treatments, even linens and dishes.

After many years in the industry, I decided to retire! I purchased a little sports car and wanted to enjoy golf again, however, once bitten by the “design bug” it doesn’t go away, and fortunately for me Norwood was hiring. I had never worked in a furniture store, but I had years of experience in customizing and shopping for furniture. Yes, I was hired and have been part of the Design Team now for 15 years.

What was your inspiration to pursue your furniture/design career?

I would have to say that as a young girl I was always decorating my horse’s stall, and found myself reading and looking at “House Beautiful”.

What’s your favorite design tip?

Don’t be afraid to experiment with colors, texture and getting out of your “comfort” zone, even if you do this using just an accent pillow! You will be surprised by a “new you” feeling.

How would you describe your personal design style?

My home is Contemporary, Hollywood Glam… but I do love Tuscan.

What do you love most about helping people design and furnish their home?

I love the before and after. When I get the big smiles and hugs from my clients, that is my biggest reward.

What’s your favorite design project that you’ve worked on here at Norwood?

It was a major remodel. The client had just purchased a new home that was very much Tuscan in every room, including all of the wrought iron light fixtures and big recessed arches over the fireplaces. They wanted the home to be transformed into a contemporary modern home! The before and after pictures say it all. I loved every step of the challenge.

Where to begin? This is the second complete houseful of furniture we have purchased from Norwood in the past 5 1/2 years. Hazelyn is a designer-extraordinaire and has been a blast to work with over the years. She has a great eye for detail, understands our love for nice furniture and, maybe most importantly, understands what it takes to make our house a home. That includes everything from items that are perfectlymatched … to those that are beautifully and perfectly mismatched. Todd is as solid as it gets when it comes to being a business owner. I recently visited Norwood furniture in Gilbert. My first visit I met Melanie she was very friendly and very helpful. I am building a new home and needed a new great room kitchen/dining room table. She introduced me to the Canadel line. I was looking for a long, wood, farmhouse style table set. I returned with my husband to look again and met Hazelyn. She also was very friendly and helpful. She helped us design our talent set. While doing so she was able to give us pictures of what our future set would look like as well as being able to see different sets on the floor. She was very knowledgeable about the designs and what she felt would work well in our space. We purchased the set and look forward to when it will be delivered.

“We bought complete living room, dining room, master bedroom, spare bedroom and office sets of furniture from Norwood for our new home. Additionally, we purchased five rooms of Berber carpeting from Norwood – including all installation. Our process was accelerated due to time constraints relative to our move. We worked closely with Hazelyn, and also interacted with Todd – Norwood’s owner. Since the initial purchase (December 2018), we have purchased a couple additional pieces from Norwood. While we ran into a couple snags – likely due to the time constraints under which we were working – Todd and the Norwood group were supportive and stood behind all work and furniture purchases. Todd and Hazelyn were often available and reachable after and/or before normal business hours, and were accommodating as possible in moving ourfurniture acquisition to successful closure (though we are waiting for delivery a few pieces that were back-ordered, which is extremely normal in this business). Knowing that we did not have a living room sofa or sectional to use, and hat the one we custom-ordered would take several weeks to complete – Norwood really stepped up to the plate by loaning us a sectional for our use, until completion of the sectional that we special-ordered. Additionally, Norwood’s delivery and warehouse team have been fabulous. During the initial delivery of nearly an entire houseful of furniture, they never as much as touched a wall or a door jamb – which was important to us since the house was just freshly painted inside and out. I guess the main question is “would we go back to Norwood again?” The answer is,”We already have”. Kudos to Hazelyn for a job well done. And special Kudos to Todd for his support and for also standing behind everything Norwood has done with us. Thanks team; nice job!”
