About Donna:
When I was young, I was always creatively adventurous, expressing myself through graphic design, photography, creative writing, and even woodworking. There hasn’t been a creative stone I don’t turn. When I got married my home became the greatest canvas to work on. One evening a close friend asked me over; she was disenchanted with her space and desperate for change. I helped her with color and new textures. We ordered some new furniture to showcase some heirlooms; some pieces she feared she’d need to pack away to create something new. In no time at all, she was in love with her home again. Eventually, helping one friend turned into two, then more, and my craft expanded to referrals. Helping women and families create beautiful spaces that feels personal to them became extremely rewarding.
My inspiration:
My inspiration came from many weekends with my mom and sisters flipping through magazines together. One glossy page after another filled with color and personality. Oh, if I could be a paper doll I’d meld into those pages and set foot through the rooms running my fingers though the drapes, touching all the textures and finishes. I’d sit on each beautiful piece of furniture displayed on every page. These pages were inspirational and told a story. I believe everyone has a story to tell, and everyone deserves to be inspired within their own home.
What’s your favorite design tip:
Don’t be afraid. Find something that’s unique to you and build on it. I think we need to get away from the worrying of resale or staying in neutral tones because it’s safe – that’s no way to be authentic. Also, don’t be afraid to ask for help. We are not all creative in the same way, but being creative is a must.
How would you describe your personal design style:
Naturally but fearlessly eclectic, I have a hard time committing to one décor style if the room is balanced it will bring peace.
What do I love most:
When my friends or clients thank me for my time, I think, “Are you kidding! I’m living my dream!” Helping create their homes into the space they dreamed of whether it’s reinventing a room or starting from scratch I’m in love with the process of creativity.
