Big Impact

Do you want to make a small room look larger?

Many people believe that a small room needs small furniture. Actually, you will use less floor space if you use fewer pieces on a slightly larger scale. It will also eliminate a cluttered look that a lot of small pieces create.

Start by lightening up the walls to expand the space. Choose a piece of furniture on a larger scale such as an overstuffed loveseat for a den or a four-poster bed for a bedroom. Use a tea table or trunk for a cocktail table. The trunk could be used for storage as well as a place to set magazines or a drink. Use vertical storage such us bookcases in a den or a chest of drawers in a bedroom instead of a dresser. Light lacy curtains, mirrors opposite windows, fresh flowers, glass and high leg tables will also expand a room and give it a feeling of airiness.

I think once you use these basic guidelines, you will find your small room has turned into the cozy retreat you will love living in.
